Default gears

i just bought a '01 gt and i know the car had some mods on it but were taken off but i think it may have gears. i read that most places put a plate with the gear numbers on it on the rear end. i have a plate and here are the numbers.......5229h and 1127881h22. has anybody seen these numbers on a stock gt or know if these are a part number to aftermarket gears?? thanks......

Nobody puts a new tag on the rear for a gearswap - the tag will only tell you what came factory and yours came with 3.27's. Aside from removing the gears to count the teeth, you can jack your car up and look rotate the tires and compare that with the rotation of the driveshaft, or you can go out on the interstate in 5th gear and track your mph vs rpm's and let us know what they read and we'll let you know what ratio is in there.

I dont know what they stand for. Dont look like stock numbers. I have stock 3.27 gears and I switch into forth right as I hit the finish line, somewhere between 98 and 101 depending on weather.

i actually switch into 5th after i cross the line, im at redline in fourth when i crossed the line.
by jacking the car up and rotating the wheel, how do i tell a difference between gears?
ill drive with my gps tomorrow and see what rpm's im pulling at 70 mph, would that help?
i didnt want to do it today bc it just rained and i washed and waxed my car.

Like MD said... get on the highway and put the speedometer dead on 70 mph and with 3.27's you should be running about 1900 rpms. Tell us what you run.

Do you have an auto because everyone here I have talked to says that they run about 2300 to 2400 in fifth with 4.10's.
