the mustang is not meant to compete with vettes. vette is a 2 seater more along the lines of a viper. with the camaro's and firebirds, sure they will beat a mustang in a striaght line but get them onto a road coarse or autox and they will get eaten alive. i wish the mustangs had more power 2, but for the price of the others u can make a mustang smoke em.

yea the prob is that ford took away the easy moddin when they went to modular, now u just put boost to it, imo i wanna a motor that will kill chevy not a procharger, supercharger, turbo. Thats the prob, now the fbodies look beat but they are a lot faster and i think that ford shoud bring back the pushrod 351 and rip the pants off chevy. no doubt that a stang is nice lookin and the t/a or camaro is beat buti also want a motor that goes along with that style

Someone mentioned this, and I wanted to hit upon it again.. Next to the Porsche 911 and the VW Beetle, the Mustang is one of the longest running models of any company... Take a peak if you dare..
The whole point of Mustangs weren't to be the fastest on the road, nor were they supposed to be the best handling. They were, however, supposed to be an appealing, sporty coupe that gave you the best bang for your buck.. Camaro, as most of you know, was GM's response to the Mustang, nearly 3 years after the Mustang was introduced...
Mustangs only became fast once the Muscle car era was in full swing.. Remember, a 64 1/2 Mustang only had a Straight-6, and the 65's-66's starting offering the 289..
Ford did something right, whether you guys like it not... So what it isn't that fast out of the box.. It's still an attractive car, and is affordable to customize..
Plus, I strongly dislike GM, so... Go Ford!!
