Synthetic folks.. oil change interval poll!!!
I've heard conflicting views on this. Alot of people say because synthetic protects alot better than conventional oils you don't need to change it until 5-6k, while some say 3k miles no matter what you use, and depending on conditions. What do you all do?

Depending on how you drive the car is what I use to determine when to change the oil. If you drive the **** out of it then change it every 2.5-3k miles. If you don't than 5k plus isn't really a problem just make sure to check the level every now and then.

I change it every 3k miles. It's just cheap insurance. Oftentimes, it's obvious that it didn't quite need a change but in anycase, you get any funk out and you're much more likely to detect a problem early on, before it's too late. On that note, I suggest that people make sure to keep an eye on their oil-pressure gauges and check their oil levels regularly. Too many people just ignore it, and those are the people whose engines go prematurely.

I'm supercharged and live by the method of better safe than sorry. The cleaner my oil the better for my engine...when I was NA and using Synthetic I changed it every 3k. Now that I'm supercharged and back to organic I will be changing it every 2k.

i use the mobil one EP that supposed to last 15k miles, i just hit 3k since the change and i checked it and its still really close to the same color it was new and the level barely dropped at all. i dont drive it much but on the weekend cause i take a shuttle to campus so i probably wont go the full 15k. i think its 15k or 1 year, i got it written on the window sticker
