Hey i was wondering if anyone knows how to hardwire a radar detector so it doesnt take up a cigarette lighter. thanks for the help</P>

theres cheap little deals you can buy at pep boys that turn 1 cigarette lighter into 3 cigarette lighters... if that helps any

u can wire it into say your radio....somthing like that. You just have to cut the connector off the wire, and wire the hot wire into a wire that's always hot when your car is on...radio...sumthin like that. then just ground it on another ground wire, or on the frame and wala.</P>

Passport makes a wireless model. Takes 2 AA batteries that last for awhile. About 20 hours or so if left on. It has an auto shut off if you forget to turn it off.

20 hours? dont you want to just leave it on in most cases? cause then 20 hrs wouldnt be that much...

That depends, when was the last time you drove for 20 hours straight. There are so many variables on how long the batteries will last. Type, Temp, Use. 20 is just a number that I threw out there. I am sure they last a lot longer than that.

the passport sounds like a good idea but how much does it cost. i was also looking into one that gets installed just under your instramentals in the dash. I forget the brand but it seemed cool.

Mine was about $120. They have better versions than the one I have out since I bought mine back in '00 so the price might have gone up.
