a 351 is pointless in ur new edge body style, for that money and save u some time just find a terminator motor, put some pullies on it and have 500 rwhp, it takes a good h/c/i package for the 351 to hit that number and most likely u will need to either stroke it or bore it. Just use a terminator motor its easier for these newer cars, or just buy a fox and drop it in that

I'm almost certain, you can find a good 351, w/ H/C/I, machine work, and new carb, and a few other things, you're looking at $3k.. Add a decent tranny, and a few other add-ons, and you're still WELL under the $15k.. Remember, the 302/351 have been around a while, and the aftermarket support is so ridiculous, that you can find incredible parts, ultra cheap.. Think, you could potentially have over 400hp N/A... Try that w/ your 4.6...
But, as was mentioned, you'll never be able to get it legally inspected...

That link PROVES to me that it's definitely way cheaper to build and install a 351.. It would take a bit of custom work, but keep in mind, everything has been built and proven w/ the 351, time and time again...
I hope folks don't see that link, and think that those engines actually produce that power, instead of being capable of taking that much power...

Its way way cheaper to build a 4.6L sohc than to try to source all of the stuff nessicarry to do a 351W swap, and then build the engine.
3500 for shortblock + 4500 for I/C centri kit and you are already well above 400 WHP. 1200 bucks in exhaust and you have a 500+ WHP beast on a stock engine

The 500 HP one has a KB blower.. and the others are probably at the flywheel. There is no doubt the link with the 351W is at the flywheel.,

I'm still sticking by my guns, since a lot of the fab. work wouldn't be too bad on the 351.. Think though, 351's are a dime-a-dozen for the most part, and since you can make as much power N/A on a 351 as you would have to go FI on the 4.6, I still don't see thecomparison... There are a lot of guys that are pushing HUGE #'s on OHV 302/351's, that didn't spend a ridiculous amount of money...
Think like this, you can get an Edelbrock mani w/ a 700+ carb, and a Cam, yes, just 1 cam, for the price of a P51, w/ out the TB, and won't need to buy injectors..
Yes, the truth be known, carbed cars suck at tuning, but the reliability, to me, seems almost worth it too...
2000GT4.6: I think of your car as a sort of, gem, since you've had great luck w/ your's... I realized after I posted that those were potential Flywheel #'s, and sort of slapped myself for that.. I still think that you always bring up the best point that 4.6 heads don't flow sh-t.. You can get a variety of heads from reputable manufacturers, that flow near 75% better than the SOHC heads.. That's a big difference..
And if you built either yourself, you're going to save TONS...

RE: 351 windsor in 2000 mustang
For the price of a blown 4.6L, you can do a stroked and blown 351 that could nearly double the output of the 4.6L. The OHV Windsor has a lot of support in the aftermarket and has much better flowing heads available. All crate engines are rated by flywheel horsepower.
Swapping a 351W into any Fox chassis is very easy. The SN95 and New Edge are just Fox chassis' with extra bracing and a different name.
EDIT: I do like the 4.6L engine, it just doesn't have the support of the aftermarket and is in real need of a larger bore for some good heads. 'til then, it makes me a nice economical little V8.

A local guy has a 347 carburated motor in his 99. Its unreal fast, runs 10's on nitrous... its pretty much not capable of being daily driven, but i'm sure its lots of fun on the weekends

oh i kno how much potential a 351 has i know a good bit about them and what to use for em, i think if u are bent on goin with ohv and not staying ohc than go with a cleve, they are the ls1's of ford, the 4v cleve, and by 4v i dont mean 4valves per cylinder i mean 4 barrel carb, with just a cam and bigger carb and headers is well over 400 whp so think of that the only thing is they are heavy and hard to find, u mite wanna upgreade the suspension and if u find one do some tranny work to it
