I'm leaving my gf house and i pull out on to the main road and hit it a little. When i let of the gas and got on the clutch to go to third my thottle was stuck wide open, peddle to the floor. I imediately killed the engine and costed to the side of the road and poped the hood. The butterfly valve was fine, not stuck or anything.. I'm just curous what could have caused this?

Thats a tuff one. There are some linkgage that could have caught up on something, the butterfly in the TB, or maybe the spring on the TB its self hauled @$$ on you. lol

THeirs two springs, the spring on the throttle body and the "just in case" return spring that goes from the linkage for the throttle to the bracket attatched to the plenum. I'd check to make sure their still there and operational, if they are like Dan said your floormat musta jammed the throttle closed.

I have read of two other instances where this has happened. It all was traced to the pedal sticking under the edge of the carpet.

i hope it was just the pedel stuck in the carpet. but im pretty sure it was not as i tryed pretty hard to get the pedel to return. As far as the springs, they are both still there and in working condition.

I've read about other people having the exact same problem, although it's mostly in 03/04 cobras where I've heard about it... they all said it was related to the gas pedal getting stuck under the carpet. I hope that is all it was for you as well

Can you pull it up by hand? If so, does it fall right back to the floor?
