Third gear makes me cry.
k Here's the story. Ive been driving manuals for over 10 years so I'd like to say I'm pretty proficiet at manual driving.
What is the deal with 3rd gear on these mustangs??? When I'm really stomping on it I always seem to grind third or hit a wall right before i get to third. Anybody else having this problem or should I be taking the stang to the dealership??

Ya know a couple people told me thats what the fix is. I laso heard a technical bulletin for the tremec 3650... something about it comes out of the factory over serviced. supposed to have less fluid in the tranny than they put it. What short throw would you recommend?

Its because 1st and 3rd are SO DAMN CLOSE! so every time you throw it to the right to put it into 3rd, you throw it too far, Ive found that all you need to do to get from 2nd to 3rd is just push the shifter up, and it just goes right to 3rd, like just push it from the back and not try to move it left or right, and the spring will just guide it into 3rd. You just have to like not try so hard, lol, if that makes any sense, but Ive grinded 3rd 2 times this week, really pissed me off.

I lined up against a formula firebird and he was a cool guy and we both agreed to test our cars out... third gear came and it was so loud he heard it and slowed down to see if i broke my car lol.
Then another time... i really hate telling this story... I lined up with a ..........v-6 03 stock mustang. You can guess the rest of the story. Bad memories.
I'll give your "not try so hard" theroy a try. Hopefully it works for me lol.

there is truth to that also the spring will guid it right in, i have the b&m short though and love it, it has the shift stops on it tooo so u dont bust anything like i did the 1st time

LOL i had that same problem but adjusted the stops for 3rd screwed em back hasnt happened since. And i have the tri-ax its not bad but when im racin 3rd does grind. but only when goin fast im not missin just doesnt like quick shifts.
