03 GT VS. 03/04 Cobra... AGAIN
So i have another question comparing the two. My first thread on this was a poll where the cobra was hands down the best pick.... But i have more thoughts and another question....
I understand that you can simply s/c a GT and be at 400rwhp and call it a day... But what happens if i do this and i want more? Exactly how expensive is it to forge the GT motor to handle lets say... 600+ rwhp? What all would i be getting myself into? Would it be cheaper still yet to mod a bada$$ GT or would just getting a cobra and modding it come out cheaper?
And lets say that i keep the gt... s/c it and want more... How do you go about finding someone to forge your engine? I would have no clue where to start? Thanks!

You can either buy a forged shortblock about 3500 and install it yourself, or pay more to have it installed + assorted parts (head gaskets etc.) Or you can buy a forged rotating assembly and have your motor rebuilt. Which costs about the same in the end after block machining, labor and assorted parts. Either way its not a cheap job.

Think of this... built block + forced induction + tranny + axle + suspension + transmission... think about it.
Built motor, what 5-7k installed? Kenne Bell or most tuned blowers = 5k. tranny around 2k axle another 1k suspension... 500-2000 depending on what kind you got... thats around 15-20k right there... and to be honest a 600rwhp GT is really not streetable...
Unless you want something like a built GT for the sake of having a built GT.. if you want 500rwhp or more, it's just a better option to get a 03/04 Cobra...

Nope. I have a few friends with 600+. It takes some money but can be done. My one buddy has $7000 in the purchase of his car and has $11000 in mods and he will hand a modded 03/04 Cobra its tail. Many have tried to no avail. Thats $18000 and the look of cobra owners when a 2V stomps there ***** is priceless
