I have to agree that the 2v heads are not hte greatest thing in the world. I just disagree that without lots of work the 5.0 will be much better.

Money vs performance wise I think your going to need to get into the engine building stage before seeing a big advantage on teh 5.0s. Some people talk about how cheap they are to mod, but its kindaa myth. go price out a good 5.0 longblock and it will shock you how much it realy costs.
Really? I've only really looked at small mods compared to 2v's. Hrmms kind of eye opening. Thanks man=P This is what I meant when I said I'm still learning about power on mustangs=P
I was pricing out a 347 stroker (and a 408 stroker) for the possiblity of going with a notch LX before I did the blower. I was looking at well over 5K when all was said and done, and without some sort of FI only making 350-375 WHP, and it was a pretty heavy cam. Its cheaper than building a 2v, but still...

Sorry about the loss, but you'll get over it with a v8 powered Stang. For $16,000 or less, theres alot you could do. You can get 96-98 Cobras for under 10k, you can get a fox for fairly cheap, hell you could get an LS1 Camaro or Trans Am. If you want a v8 Stang to right ahead, but for your price range there are many other things out there.

i hear you on the sentimental value of the V6. i want to keep mine as a DD and get some kind of V8 New Edge when i graduate, if not sooner. you should go take the turbo out of the Mazda and do a custom turbo kit with it

If you can't afford the Mach seriously look into 96-98 cobras before just jumping on a newer GT. You could probably get one for a good dealless than a newer GT (and then spend the extra modding it up). Remember 4v>3v>2v>. If you're looking for performance you may end up kicking yourself for not grabbing something with a 4v motor. I wished I shopped around a bit more.

Buy a 96-98 Cobra for 8k. Use the rest to stick a centri on that sucker and bolt ons. Boom, your maxing out the stock internals at 400+ rwhp easyfor what it wouldve cost to get a stock Mach 1.
