i hear you man, i had my gears sitting in my room for almost 5 months before i put them on. i researched countless threads on the topic and finally did it. and honestly it's not that big of a difference. i mean it's def an improvement and you notice the pull, but people make it out like it changes every aspect of your car. ask yourself this question, do you want a faster car? if the answer is yes than dont think about it again and do it. trust me and everyone else on here who's recommended the gears YOU'LL LOVE EM.

I think the people your talking to that says they make you slower might be refering to the top end, or top speed. having 4.10s is like a kick in the *** for your car, much faster acc. but i seriously dont think having 4.10s cuts to much into your top speed, i mean how many times are you seriously going to be doin 140+

only way a 4.1 set of gears will make you slower, is by lowering the top speed.

My 2004 came with 4.10's when i bought it used and I wouldn't even drive a GT (Edge) Without them. It's a blast and does in no way make you slower. I do spin if I don't feather the pedal when launching and shifting hard but that's cause of the sumo's

My car went slower on street tires with 4.10s ... it goes quite a bit faster on slicks though with 4.10s.

Gears should be bought with tires...

Yea, my freinds were arguning with me nonstop about how "4.10s is too much gear for my car" blah blah blah, " you ll regret it" blah blah blah. Well we went to a swap meet 2 weekends ago and i ask the vender " I hav an auto 98 mustang gt and im looking for 4.10s but these guys say its too much, what do you think?" He said, "4.10s at least, oid even think about 4.30s." Well needless to say, they shut up after that....

in a 5 speed 4.10's will give you more top end. 4.10's may make you slower if you can't hook for crap or they may make you slower.... than 4.30's.
