Sure, if you have skill & confidence & the right tools then install it yourself! You still need to take it to a dyno for a decent tune afterwards though.

Don't gamble with it. Make sure you dyno tune after the install.

The install is pretty straight forward and Kenne Bell's instructions are some of the best that you will find. With some help and the right tools you should have very little problems. Pay close attention to the details as far as the wiring and vacuum lines are concerned. You are correct that the KB chip is pretty close, my suggestion is at least put it on the dyno to check air/fuel ratio and of course to see what kind af numbers that you are putting to the ground. I have two mustangs in my stable with Kenne Bell's and know several others that have them as well. You will not be disappointed with your decision as mater of fact it will not be long before you will want to pony up for the intercooler upgrade. Have fun!!!

well the 2.6L or the "tuner kit" is a pain(i have the 2.2L). the 2.1L kit is one of the easiest things to install(ALL ONE FULL KIT). KB are easier to install than centrifical superchargers(like vortech).

Whatever you do, at bare minimum get a a/f ratio done on a dyno to check the car out. Boosting a 2v without checking the a/f ratio is pure suicide.. you don't get the chance to hear deotnation and then back out of it, it just melts a piston thru the side of the block.

I would never run any tune, no matter who did it, without an a/f ratio check, and I would never ever run any tune from KB/vortech/procharger/paxton. They simply do not specialise in these cars, they make kits for almost anything, and without a mustang specific tuner behind the wheel I do not trust it.

I have seen the canned KB tune in action and i must give them credit (KB 1.7 on a Gt with only a catback) it was a good tune, very conservative tho...But yes for the piece of mind and insurence ALWAYS go to the dyno
