The end all end of the great H-pipe vs X-pipe debate??
Forget the original thread topic, I'm changing format. While searching for a VRS X-pipe online I stumbled across something....(read next post).

RE: Where to buy a VRS X-pipe??
Hmmm, found an interesting thread on another forum.

The March 2005 (don't these guys know it's only the beginning of January?) issue of Mustang Enthusiast did an X-Pipe Shootout. They put five off-road x-pipes head to head:
1) BBK
2) Bassani
3) Dr. Gas
4) Magnaflow
5) VRS
They also did some comparisons of H-Pipes vs. X-Pipes. Without totally plagiarizing the magazine, and without going into any detail, here's what we can all learn from this. Remember, these aren't necessarily my opinions, this is straight from the source.
1) All off-road x-pipes are the same.
2) Catted x-pipes perform virtually the same as off-road, up to 340hp.
3) X-Pipes and H-Pipes are identical in terms of power production, on both high-end and low-end.
4) H-pipes are a lot louder than X-pipes.
Don't know if I agree with all of that, because to me it sounds like my off-road X is louder than my off-road H, but I could be wrong I guess. Anyone else have an opinion? Any input?

ORIGINAL: mdvaldosta
I think the h would be louder and deeper at idle and the x louder at wot and alittle bit better top end performance.

RE: Where to buy a VRS X-pipe??
X-Pipes are designed to free up additional horsepower and torque by reducing the effect of the out-of-sync pulses. The out-of-sync firing order common with most V8 engines occurs when two cylinders on the same bank fire within 90° of each other. This creates a “crowded” condition in the collector and exhaust pipe. X-pipe crossover allows balancing, equalization to reduce negative harmonics and increased exhaust velocity. Adds up to 12HP! H pipes do the same thing basically, but the exhaust has to leak over to the opposite exhaust pipe instead of being forced over there. So, while only a small gain in HP, the X pipe is preferred.
