I would remove it and repair or replace it BUT an easier way is to patch it with an item called Panel Bond. We use this in the body business all the time and to see it work is nothing short of amazing. When the 2 pieces of metal are bonded you cannot pull them apart, it will tear at the area around it first it is so strong. AutoZone has it here so you may want to check it out by you but with this stuff it will be a 20 min. fix and never come apart, good luck.

Never heard of panel bond, but I have used JB weld for this exact purpose before, you just have to make sure the area is clean and not too much oil coming out. My problom was a puncture due to grinding and hitting too many bumps (lowrider/juice + shi++y roads FTL) not a split, but it held me over for the 2 weeks with no problems until I got around to replace the pan. Who knows... it could have gone longer.

I would give that panel bond stuff a shot if it is better than JB, until you can give it a permanent fix ( so it won't be 1/2 a$$ed [:-]\/\/\/)
