Did 4:10's really help your 1/4 mile times?

I don't have any times from before the install to compare to. No matter what gearing you have, you will not be able to take full advantage of it without traction. Gearing the car may make it faster, but you will lose more traction. Drag radials will solve that.

I paid $550 for gears 3.73 and labor at a dealership and got a year warranty. I pic up 2/10th on my gear change and very little on my 60 ft(2.08 to 2.02). This was when the car was NA and made 257 rwhp . I have a automatic also. Youwill notice a differance w/ 3.73, I just planned mine for a SC down the road. I didn't lose any gas miliage(wasn't noticable), though I ran 2900 rpm at about 76 mph(crusing speed for my long comute home until somebody irks me). Everyone says 4.10's if running NA. Plan your final goal, 3.73 arn't that bad until you get to that point. I had allot of fun......

I think that it is very difficult to say that a gear swap made for X amount of change in your ET or 60' time.

I could run any number of combination of times with and w/o a gear swap.

Until you have ran a number of times with the same car before and after a modification, on similar 60' times, it is very difficult to pin point a set amount of gain.

I had 4.10's with exhaust and went 14.5's. The same car went 13.8's last year with the exact same mods on an improved 60'.

That 60' time however is still well within stock tire times, so I could argue that I've gained almost .3 from my gears and exhaust total, but I know that's not accurate as I still have not ran the car to it's potential as it sits.

You have to remember that a gear swap should net the most gains in your 60' time with a set of sticky tires, and as such, the ET will drop.

I am about to install Richmond 3:73 gears on my 03 Gt in a about a week. I was given a quote of $200.00. Is that an accurate quote?

I'd say 200.00 is a great price. I've been quoted anywhere from 250.00- 450.00 for rear end gears. 3.73's will wake up your Pony. It's a noticable difference. When I had a Firebird years ago, I went from stock gears to 3.73's and it was a big difference. I'm getting 3.90's installed in my 'Stang in the next couple weeks.

$200 is a fair install price.

I do not know if you are aware but Richmonds are famous for whine. Not trying to bust on your thread but just wanted to give you a heads up in case you didn't know.

If you run a search you will see a few threads about this. FRPP & Motives do not if installed properly but the Richmonds seem to no matter.

Good Luck!
