Default Upgrade from GT to Cobra Front Brakes

Hi all, I want to upgrade my front brakes, since the rotors are warped anyway. I found the Cobra front brake kit online, and was going to order that - is there anything else I need to replace while I'm at it, or will the kit fit without any other modifications?

It will fit without any other mods. Does it come with new lines too? If it does, make sure you tighten the lines enough so they don't leak. Also, get some brakekleen and spray down the rotors and wipe them off with a nice clean cloth. Then when installing don't touch the rotors. That should be all you need if you are getting the right kit! Oh! depending on mileage, may want to replace/bleed the brakes. I did and stepped up to synthetic.

The kits are a pretty nice upgrade but the rotors i got with mine started rusting first time they got wet. I'll be getting the original OEM 03 cobra rotors soon. If Iwould have known the rotors would rust like they did then i would have bought parts to make my own kit. The SS lines are a must....they are a little longer and will not have a spongy feel to them like the stock ones.

If i remember correctly, this is basically a cobra brake setup except with boring calipers, not pretty COBRA on them.

I put this on my car.

Yup that is the same thing. The Cobra/Mach/Bullitt brakes are all the same with just different paint.

I just did mine. the only problem i had was the hawk pads i bought were too tight and i would have to get my new rotors spun to make them fit. I just used the ones that came with the kit.

Quick Tip!

Make sure whatever pads you use aren't the full race type. I installed a Wilwood brake kit on my '03 GT and thought that the race pads would last since they are heavier duty. Boy was I right! but Boy was I wrong! The pads were so tough they chewed the rotor down to almost nothing! Thank God I have a sponsorship with them and they replaced the GT rotors for free!
