Default Transmission problem. Help!!

Here's the deal. The clutch doesn't slip when I shift or when I drive at all. Problem is, sometimes when I shift to second gear, about 1 / 25 times it grinds like I let off the clutch too soon. At first I thought I wasn't used to the car but after driving it for an hour today, something is definitely wrong because I was holding the shifter hardin second after I shifted and it would still do that. Now the car never slips out of second gear when I drive and I coudl drive all day in second and be fine. Only happens when I shift to it. I dread shifting to second now.

Does anyone have a remote idea of what the problem is? I hope I don't need a new tranny bc I can't afford it now.

what year is your car? my t45 did that. it also popped out of reverse. probably due to worn synchros. i wouldn't worry about it until it gets more frequent. when was the last time you changed your tranny fluid?

My synchronizers went bad @ 25,000 miles. The dealer ship fixed it on warrantee. 2nd gear is a problem gear in a lot of fords.

Is there a way to tell for sure if its the synchronizers? It doesn't pop out of gear once it's in, engaged and I'm driving. Only has this problem when I actually shift and then let off the clutch to engage the gear, even if I tightly push it in, still happens sometimes.

How much does this problem cost to fix?

When my synchro's went bad, there is this little plastic ball inside your shifter that helps allign the gears, that was shot also. That maybe your problem.

If my synchros and the plastic ball went bad, wouldn't that affect my ability to shift into ALL the gears? Every gear works perfectly except for that occasional problem with second gear.

My car does the same thing. No matter how hard I pull it, it still wont go in.I've noticed mine always does it after its warm and there are certain spots in the road that I can never get it to go in.I've learned to realize when it is going to to it but it's still a pain.

I ask the same question. Mine would go into the other gears fine too.
