Default Ok this is really lame

So I removed the old power window motor and then I hooked it to the fastener to see what the problem with it was.

The power window motor works perfectly! The gear spinsclockwise andcounter clockwiselike it's supposed to. What the hell??? Why werent my windows rolling down then and why did the mechanic tell me that it was my power window motor that was the problem?

It may have enough power to move on it's own, but not with a load on it..?..

So does that mean there's a problem with the motor or the wires? I did notice that the gear doesn't seem to be moving very fast. I thought power window motors have a ton of torque

Actually just checked it and it's moving fine. It's moving at the speed i would expect my windows to roll down at.

It was probably the regulator, not the motor. The motor is just the little piece with the gears on it. The regulator is the assembly with the bars, cable, mounts for the window glass, and where the motor mounts to. Your motor was probably fine, the regulator is ****ed. It's actually a common mistake to think it's the motor.

Wow..

How are you supposed to replace the regulator without cutting a big gaping hole in the door?

The regulator should have bolts holding it into the door. The only solid piece on it should be the two bars on the sides. The middle is actually held together by the cables. All the cars I've worked on usually have 6 bolts, three on each side, holding the bars in. It's really simply, actually.

If its the driver side window, it could be the one touch relay located on the inside of the door panal.

It can't be the relay because when I hook the power window motor to the fastener and press the button, the motor operates.
