i have a knock wont go away wont get worse. myoil is clean. i can't find the source. don't think it's a rod cause it has been like this a while. the sound is metalic andis loud as hell. itdoesn't seem to rob any performance and will hold a 75 shot no problem.

I have the same kinda thing going on with mine. It was that way when I bought it (got it REAL cheap), and the previous owner said it had been that way for about 11k, and the sound never got worse.

Originally I was hoping for the timing chain tentioner problem,so I tore into it. The passenger arm was worn, so I replaced itand installed new tentioner, put it back together, and fired it up. It seemed to run and idle much smoother, but the knock is still there [:@]

It sounds too high up in the blockto be a rod bearing, andsounds too loud/deep to bein the heads. It also only does it at light throttle, but not at idle. I'm thinking it could be a wrist pin???

Well... After about 13K miles of having this knock, last night it finally got worse. It still runs smooth, but the noise is there more often, and even at idle. I'm almost certain it's a rod now, definitely in the bottom end.

I guess it's getting parked until I have thetime, and free workspace, to pull the engine.

I would love to go forged, butI'll probably take the "cheap" way out, find a lower mileage junkyard motor, and sell the PI stuff off of it (anyone looking? lol). This ispretty much going to be my dd, it's an "economy car" compared to my other rides [sm=smiley36.gif]. At this point,I really don't plan to ever go more than 400hp in this car...if that.

PS, I'm not trying to hijack...just sharing my experience. I hope you catch yours before more damage is done!
