Just joined this forum recently. I have been enjoying the information and have spentsome time reading through some of the previous topics. I have learned a lot. Even though I don't bring much to the party I figured I should post a welcome message.I got myfirst Mustang about 2 months ago and have been hooked so far. I knew/know very little about engines in general but I have done lots of reading in the past couple months as well as sifted through the Haynes Manual. I havea stock 98 GT convertible and look forward to working/learning on the car in the months to come. I guess my general plans over the winter are to use the Haynes manual, learn about the car and perform general maintenance and inspections myself. No better way to learn than taking apart and putting back together I guess. I also think the first work I will have done is having 4.1 ring and pinion gears installed. Based off of everything I've read, it seems like a good way to get a nice off the line kick. It sounds a little to complicated to do on my own. The first mods I will tackle on my own will be CAI andUnderdrive pulleys. I suppose after that will be headers and the rest of the exhaust. Any thoughts or input would definitely be appreciated.

Good plan.

Get familiar with your car, follow other peoples threads about mods they are performing and it can give you a real good 'heads-up' when it comes time for you to get your hands dirty on your GT!

Yeah dude, I have a '96 convertible and had some experience tinkering with it so ask away. All that differs between our 2 cars is the tranny. Gears is a great place to start. Best bang-for-the-buck mod aside from NO2. Good luck and have fun with your new toy!

Hey good luck with your new mustang! I just picked up my first mustang last night! Also had my first experiance with it in a bad rain storm. Definately have to getused tothe change from front wheel drive. (BIG difference) I traded a 1996 Chevy Corsica (4cyl) for a 2001 Mustang. Best choice I ever made! Its a great car! I love it! Its an automatic, v6 3.8. Red with black leather interior. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I'm with mine! GOOD LUCK!
