Default Rear End Break In?

Got my rear end rebuilt today and like a dumb@#$ I forgot to ask how to break it in. I got all new bearings and seals, new 31 spline trac loc, moser axles and FRPP 3:73's. Does anyone know how I would need to break it in?

When I had my gears installed, my installer told me to drive it normally for about 2-300 miles and then let it rip!

Around 500 is what the company suggests, but my mechanic told me one week of normal driving.

There are several different opinions, and my opinion is that you just need them to heat up and cool several times. This can be done in a short time. Breaking them in is all about heating and cooling. Just drive it easy for a few days, then do what you want. I don't think you'll see a significant difference though with a 3.73 unless you're running a power adder.

some people will tell you give em hell right off the bat, because that's what racecars do... but racecars constantly get overhauled so the break-in periods are NOT needed.

where-as you should cruise it for atleast 500 miles, then you can give it some hell... but keep an eye on it for atleast another 500 to make sure nothing conks out when it gets full power.

Thanks for the input! I will take it easy for 500 and do the heat cycles. I figure my drive to and from work should be perfect for the heat cycles. I would rather be safe than sorry! Thanks again!

How much did you pay for the install not including parts? The reason I ask is b/c I have to get mine rebuilt soon.
