Default Oil Change

I need to do an oil change on my 2000 GT. For the past year or so i have been taking it in to have it done, but now i have the time to do it myself so i figured i would. Can anyone tell me what grade oil i should use and how much goes into my car. The car did not come with a manual when I bought it and it has been so long i have forgotten. Also, I live in Fl if that affects what grade i need. Thanks alot.

I have a 2003 GT and I use Mobil 1 5w20. It's fully synthetic and takes about 6 quarts. I wouldn't use anything but Mobil 1 in a high performance engine but that's just my personal preference.

99-00 calls for 5w30. 01-04 calls for 5w20. Either one will do. I use 5w20 in the winter and 5w30 in the summer.

Call me old school, but I still usegood ol'10w-30 and when the summers peak 100°+ i'll use 10w-40. and yes I understand how the viscosity of oil works. Its just one of those "I feel better" situations.

Does anyone else have a hard time with the oil filter oil? Everytime I remove it the oil runs down my jackstand and on to the ground.

my car takes 5.5- i put 6 qts in like everyone said and now i'm .5 over full. just go ahead and buy 6 quarts. add 5.5, crank it up and check the oil level- then adjust as necessary. If anythings left over- you can use it to top off.

i run 10w30 also, it makes me feel better....only reason they reccomend oil with as low of a weight as possible is because they want the bare minimum the car will run with so you can get max power and max mpg so their window stickers will look better when they try to sell the cars
