Default Just installed Borla Stingers - problems

So I won an auction for a used Borla Stinger catback and it finally came today. It is used but in good condition. I went straight to the muffler shop that I trust and thought these were the BORLA STINGERS which are suppose to fit perfectly and be the best of the best.

Well I was quite disappointed. Sure it sounds great but I saw several problems.

Firstly, the right side is much closer to my tires than the left. It looks like I probably won't be able to mount 275's that I have planned for later. Is this normal? The guy at the shop told me that because the gas tank is not shaped the same on both sides so thats just the way it is. But i'm really not sure because I know lots of people run 275's or even 315's with aftermarket catbacks.

Secondly the left side pipes seem to be a bit shorter than it should be. The guy tighened the pipe and it was like pulling against the hangers a bit towards the front of the car. If he lined it straight up then the U part that goes over my axle would be really close to rubbing. As far as the exhaust tips are concerned and how this whole thing looks from the outside, it seems that beause of the problem above, my left exhaust tip is not sticking out quite as much as my right.

Anyone know anything about these issues?

Thanks,
Brandon

Sorry to hear about your problems bro. Sounds like you may have to take that one on the chin and see what you can do to get that fixed or maybe even go another rout.

Are you sure that the kit you won is for 99-04 GT's?

lol i dont know if you've noticed but i dont care what catback you get, one tailpipe is always gonna stick out a bit farther then the other, only some people notice and you have to really pay attention to it, as far as being close tot he tire, you can try to rotate the pipes where it goes over the axle, may give you a little room, im not familiar with the setup of borla stingers though, also factor pipes on 96-98 cobras are dented by the tire, you can probably do that to get a little bit more clearance, just a few ideas for you.

I think the exhuast tips on them should be adjustable. loosen the clamp that holds it on and move the tip till they line up to your liking. they should just slide back and forth.

they do to a certain extent but its still gonna mismatch. but if you make sure you have constant pressure on them they wont slide side to side like they do on some mustangs.

Nah the tips are not adjustable they are welded on. I took a closer look today and I am starting to think that it is all in my head - i'm not sure.

As far as the kit is concerned, I am like 98% sure it is for 99-04's. Does anyone know if the SN-95 exhaust tips are meant to work for new edges too? if thats the case then i'll have to find out whether I got screwed

Did the tips slide into the stock hangers. If they did then its the right kit. 98 and older used a different style mount.

Oh yeah well it did slide slide on perfectly, the end pipes looked like it was the easiest part

I just looked at the borla website for 94 and 97 GT catbacks and they look completely differnent to what I have. The one I have also does look exactly like the 99-04's I've seen on the net all this time
