Default fed up with my 98GT

god this car is my worst investment ever...you have to spend fortunes on this damn year model to get any damn horsepower worth a sh*t. I love the car the car is awesome V-8, 5 speed power everything and black leather everywhere. I just wish it was alittle cheaper to get HP outta them.. First thing you have to do is a 1500$ headswap. Which for a college kid is not really possible. I mean i spent $2000 on my 89 camaro's 350 and cranked out around 415hp and ran mid 12's in the 1/4 mile but i had to get rid of it due to having to run 93 and getting 8 miles to the gallon in town because of my 700cfm holley double pumper. I am gonna get some 4.10's for this car here soon to see if i can liven it up some and make it fun to drive again. i just get tired of getting beaten my newer V-6s, f'in hondas, and numerous other ricers type car that run quicker than me in the 1/4. What was ford thinking when they made these cars were there heads up there asses or something? Sorry for the rant guys i am a diehard mustang fan. I just get tired of getting beat by almost everything on the road. But done worry i wouldnt get rid of my stang...MUSTANGS ALL THE WAY!!!!

Anyway, Ford brought out the SN95 it was one of the fastest mustangs produced since the 60s. It was good power and speed for those years.

4.10s would be a good start, and you don't need a headswap to make it fast. I'll bet a procharger is as cheap as a headswap.

boost > all

Dooooo what? A foxbody will walk all OVER a SN95 any day of the week. A LX 5.0 notch is capable of running a 14.0 or dammed near it with regular street tires (not D/Rs) and nothing else. Your lucky to be seeing 14s at all with a SN-95.

Why don't ya go pick up a 99 GT with a few miles on it for cheap? I saw one the other day for EIGHTY FIVE FREAKIN HUNDRED. Hell, you can get a 99 with like 40,000 on it now for under 10K.

Now im gonna go cry about my resale

that's about right for an old chevy or ford engine. basically, the cost of modding 5.0's hasn't increased much. i'm sure 20 years ago 2 grand would have been a good chunk of change. modular engines carry todays prices. a good cam for a pushrod motor can be had for less than $200. for the 4.6 GT, you have to buy 2, and spend about 550. for a 4V, it's about 1100 or more. they are getting cheaper though, as they become more popular and easier to modify. but dont give up your 98 just yet. that head swap changes everything.

Well id say get the 4:10's then get a CAI w/ Throttle body and plenum and do full exhaust, long tube headers, no cat mid pipe and cat back exhaust then tell us what ya think. You'll be happy. I did that but i have 3:73's and a few more mods and I can smoke GTPs thats a supercharged v6. I smoked my buddys 05 wrx. Thats turbocharged. So dont give up potential is there
