Default Swap...able???

GTs are too expensive for insurance. So I was thinking I could get a V6 and swap in a 281 and unless the 5 speeds are the same, a 5 sp from a 281... Would it work?? Or would it be pointless??

I'm a n00b with stangs.

no such thing as a 281 at least to my knowledge of having ever gone in a mustang. If your talking 289 or 302 or a 4.6 motor thats fine, its perfectly easy to do, but you'll have to change trannys too to handle more stuff, and you'll want to put more and more stuff on it when you get it done.

and the cost for insurance being 500 a month wouldn't allow me to add any performance goodies to the V8.

Having the V6 appearance with the GT rims and a SOHC 281 would be a really fine sleeper. I love sleepers.

A friend of mine. Who is 18, bought a V6 for that very reason. Found out the insurance company will hit you with a high rate just cuz it's a mustang. I'd make some callstoinsurance companys first.

Yeah it'll be hella expensive because it's a sub compact RWD coupe. That's what gets ya. if it has a V8 in it it'll hit you harder. I quoted an 03 Mustang GT 5 sp through Geico for 500. Progressive wasn't much better at 420-something a month.

My friend paid 350 a month august of 02 when he got his. He sold it on February of 03 cause of that reason. I'm 21 so my insurance won't be quite that high anymore. But still i want a stang.
