Default Gas mileage.. is this right?

Sorry for the terrible post here, but I am trying to figure out the numbers for this, but am having a hard time believing them. I filled the car up last week so that it was exactly at the full mark on the gauge, and have only driven it a hand full of times the past few days when the weather was right. So far i have driven right around 60 miles, with around 30 highway and 30 city. Right now my gas gauge is showing close to half a tank. Is this the normal mpg numbers or should i start checking some things out? This is under about 95% non-aggressive driving, only one or two quick downshifts on the highway. All i have is a 2000 GT Vert with a CAI.

It seems like for my driving, that i should have only used about 1/4 the tank, and should have used about 4 gallons, but i am almost double that?

Yea man. I have the same issue. I'm pretty sure our cars are just gas guzzlers, and/or the fuel gauge really sucks. It seems about after 30 miles right after filling up my gauge shows 3/4. I only get about 200 miles per tank before I have to fill up. And its strange, because it usually only takes 10-11 gallons to fill up, even when the low fuel light is on, but our tanks are 15.7 gallons. Do we have a little "reserve" fuel, or what?

Next time you fill up, reset the trip, then the next time after that check it, and check how many gallons it took. The fuel gauges on these cars seem to be a little deceiving.

+1 you really can't tell by just looking at the gas gauge.

Just reset the trip odometer and check the actual mpg

I can get about 310 miles on 13 gallons which is right at 24 MPG.

It really depends on how aggressive you drive it. I shift at around 2K RPM and stay in 5th gear whenever possible.

Is that around town?

Because around town I usually fill up with around 210 miles on the tank usually put 12.4 gallons and that's around 17mpg. I get like 23-24 straight Hwy.

I think the cams hurt my mileage a bit but not much maybe 1 mpg all around.

also IIRC new edge tank is 14.7 gallons until dead empty and the gas light turns on when you've used 12.7

EDIT: I think 3.55 gears are the only thing still keeping my mileage up

I reset the trip on mine every time I fill up just to monitor how much i get out of a tank. Driving any style i average 285 to 310 a tank. When i first bought it everyone was telling me how bad of a gas hog it was going to be but i really dont notice it. I dont put 10 in here and 20 in there i drive it until its empty and fill it up all the way every time.
