timing adjustment
I was reading in 5.0 magazine that adjusting the timing to either 13 or as high as 15 would help add a couple ponies to the car. Is there any truth to this? what timing exactly are they adjusting? and how hard is this to do?
thanks guys

they do make a timing adjuster for the 4.6. I think BBk sells them and I do Know Steada sells them too. I think they are a little over $150 or so and it doesn't seem too hard to install. They have the instructions on the steada web site.
I don't know of anyone that has one or anything but if bumping the timing up on the 4.6's is anything like doing it on the old 5.0 then it would be worth it.

It is an adjustable crank trigger wheel. Basically by adjusting it so the crank sensor triggers earlier. This is really not the best way on a pcm vehicle.
As stated, much better with a tuner as this changes the timing in the pcm timing tables. Not tricking it!
If you haven't seen our Sniper tuning sale, you should check it out

A timing adjuster such as Steeda's does exactly the same thing as changing the Global Spark Adder scalar value in the tune (the Global Spark Modifier in Sniper Special Forces)--it just does it mechanically.
They are, like calibrated MAFS, a left-over from the days when electronic tuners and tuning systems were not yet available and/or cost a whole lot more than $400...
