How hard is it to drive a 5 speed manual GT?
I have a 00 automatic because I basically got it for nothing. I've been thinking about getting a 5 speed V6. I have never driven a stick before! I watched alot of youtube videos and I have the shifting pattern down path and it looks easy!

Why do you want to downgrade from a GT to a V6?
But anyway the GT 5spd transmissions are not incredibly great and I hate how the shifter is so far away compared to how most other cars are. It's still fun though

i bought my 04 5 speed gt in december, and didnt get to drive it until february because i was in iraq. i had only driven a mustang once before, my buddy's car, and hadnt driven a manual in almost a year because of deployment. at the airport when my parents picked me up, i got in the car and shifted smoothly every time, no stalls, nothing close.
moral of the story, it is a very easy tranny and very forgiving. like others said, the shifter is a bit of areach compared to others, which may not bother you as much sice youve never driven a manual. the shift pattern int the hard part, hard part (for me anyways, when i was learning a manual) was a smooth transition between clutch and gas. good luck!
on a side note, i would take a manual v6 over an auto gt any day...i like shifting too much

Oh so you are gonna get the 5spd V6 and then eventually sell that and your GT for a 5spd GT?
I mean I donno how cheap you can get the V6 but if you want just a car for practice I would HIGHLY recommend asking any friends with cars to teach you or take some lessons somewhere. Or just get a really cheap beater.
I got my license last January and my 5spd Mustang is my first car I bought in May. I didn't have any friends who had/willing to teach me so I learnt myself on youtube (check out soggyrice's vids) and just reading online. Then I paid for a few classes with random drive schools and then I went to buy my car and drive it home!

not sure how this incorporates into the thread but the wife had a 98 Escort with a 5spd and I couldn't drive it to save my life. I'd stall everytime unless I was 'racing' it to get it started.
The GT 5spd is 100x's easier than the Escort was...lol. The easiest 5spd i've ever drove was my old 91 mazda b2200 truck. I couldn't kill it if I tried. Clutch was way squishy feeling, but it got all 86 HP to the ground lol.

i say get POS car and practive on that and sell your auto gt for a manual one. and then you wont have to drive the GT in bad weather. learning to drive stick aint hard..i live on a farm and i learned when i was 4 on a tractor. started on trucks when i was 5-6.
