Default vt stage 2 vs comp stage 2

Between vt's stage 2 cams and comp's (xe270ah) stage 2 cams, which one would you choose and why? These both seem to be the most popular stage 2 cams for our cars.

My car has full bolt ons with a 3.90 gear, and stock pi heads. It does have nitrous, but i really don't care which cams favor that because i rarely use it.

I've narrowed it down to these two, so i need some help picking the better overall one.

Thanks!

Do you have any cam specs? I would go with the cam that has the larger LSA number which equates to a greater power band; especially if you got a street car.

Comp stage 2:
550/550 lift
234/238 .050 duration
113 lsa

Vt stage 2:
560/575 lift
225/235 .050 duration
108 lsa

So you think the comp's would be better?

I'd go w/ the VT cam. From what I've heard, VT cams LOVE nitrous. Also, looking around for what people think of Comp Cams, most say they are more for sound.

Stop calling them VT's. CMS Stage 2 cams are the best, period

You're right...CMS...i forgot about that whole VT thing!l lol.

Now, with such a tight LSA, will i not gain much on the juice?

Also (since these seem quite agressive for n/a stage 2's) have there been any issues with getting them tuned right? Any drivability issues?

I'm really likeing the CMS stage 2, but the tight LSA has me concerned a little

You shouldn't have any tuning issues...if the tuner is competent. Here is a little info on these 2 cams. A couple years back, We had a customer that ran NMRA and FFW Mod Motor. He had Comp 270's. He ran the car on saturday at the track with the 270's. Pulled the car into the shop, swapped in my Stage 2 N/A...and went back out and made track hits. Same track, same weekend, same weather, etc, etc. My cams went 2 tenths QUICKER. They made peak HP within 2HP of each other on the dyno....but its the whole powerband that counts...as you can tell. So my smaller cam (10* less intake duration than the 270's) outran the larger cam.

Interesting! So yours made better power under the curve?

I'm not looking for a "nitrous specific" cam, but i was wondering, with a 108 LSA, will it still do okay with my nitrous?

Have you ever had to fly cut the pistons (with stock heads and pistons of course) because of clearence issues?

Also where is the cheapest place to by these with springs?

They love the spray also..because they favor the exhaust side so much. No flycutting needed. If you do flycut..get the Stage 2.5's...haha. You have the get them through my online store.

Are the Manley NEXTEK 2 valve springs the ones i should use?

Is there anything else i would need besides this?
