Can someone explain what causes gearbox to slip out of 4th gear
I have a relatively new summit racing clutch cable and quadrant on my 2000 Mustang GT. The car has recently started popping out of 4th gear, usually under low rpm levels, and will only pop out right after i put it in gear. Sometimes it goes in, somtimes it doesn't. I can't find a specific thread with this similar problem.. any advice? Thanks
+1 on the shift stops. Sometimes the lock nuts on those things will come loose and the stop bolt with work it's way in causing the car not to go fully into gear.
Mine has done this twice. Both times I had a cracked 3-4 shift fork.
Could be this..A bad synchro...could be a mis-adjusted clutch cable.. To adjust the short throw just back the screws out, shift into 3rd (sitting still engine off) and then adjust the stop in until it has a hair of space from the shifter. do the same with 4th gear...
