Nitto NT555Rs up front?!
Okay so first let me explain. I was going to purchase a new set of wheels this summer with 315 nitto drs in the rear, but as my finacial fate would have it, my money has other plans in mind. I still need to replace 2 of my tires badly, and im thinking i might just get 275 nitto drs and put them on the stock wheels. Im hopping i can once again be able to purchase new wheels this school year or at least by next summer, and im sure ill still have plenty of tread life in them, so my question is can i put the nitto 275 drs up front paired with the 315s out back and it would be a good DD, autocross and strip car or is the idea a massive FAIL story waiting to happen. Thanks for the input.

A 255 will require at least an 8.5" wheel, per nearly all tire manufacturers. If going 9" wheel, I would recommend a 255 if you are going AX, but a 265~275 would be fine (275 is max per all manufacturers I am aware)

Although Jazzer is the man in my book and I always open my ears when he talks....255 will fit quite fine on an 8 inch width rim. I can take pics of my 255/40 Nitto 555s tomorrow. Its just not quite a perfect fit.....thats all.

So it sounds like a 255 should fit the bill for the 8 and 9 in wheels. Also i remember hearing about the new NT05 tire from nitto. Think im going with those on the back now, and will transfer them to the new wheels and front when i upgrade my wheels.

275/40s fit fine on stock wheels. I've done it, dime has done it, and countless other people I know do it.
I wouldnt really want to run DRs in the front, what exactly are you tryin to accomplish by doing that (i dont quite understand your post sorry)
Heres my old car with 275s on 8" rim....
