Exhaust leak after o/r pipe install... ideas?
Hey guys, just installed my o/r X-Pipe, now I have an exhaust leak on the driver's side where the exhaust manifold meets the midpipe. I worked on it and it seems like the 2 pipes just don't want to meet together correctly so there's an 1/8" gap where the 2 pipes meet inbetween the 2 flanges where they bolt together... any ideas on how to solve this??
Thanks!
Thanks!

with some midpipes...a flange or some type of adapter is needed on the driver's side so that it can mate together correctly. If not...then i advise taking it to the muff shop and have them cut...mount flange to header manifold...then mate the pipe together. Its a good time to check if it hangs low or not to fix it or adjust it.

yep yep had the same problem with my pypes x-pipe. I tried for an hr to get the drivers side to line up. Just like most of the guys said its best to take it to a muffler shop. They charged me like 70 bux for new manifold studs and labor. No leaks now. Good luck.

Same problem here. I had no leaks when I had first installed my exhaust, but then as it heated and cooled, expanded and contracted the leaks became very apparent. I've tried several times to tighten the flange at the drivers side manifold, even heated and Bent Chrome Vanadium wrenches to snake onto the the bolts from the back to hold while I tighten and it's all in vain. I'm thinking of installing the doughnut gasket as well, but I'm certain a quick, easy and cheap fix would be to use Liquid Gasket. I work with a few Drag guys and used some Liquid Gasket once that one co worker had recommended to me. He uses it on his 7 Second Malibu and it's never cracked or leaked. Until it came time to install the new parts, over a year later I had no issues with it.
TL;DR - Cheap, use Liquid gasket compound. Proper, get the gasket installed or DIY.
