Question How can i tell if i'm running Lean or not?

My gauges are all fine, temp. oil pressure amps, everything looks good, but more and more, even when in nuetral if i give it a good race up, i can smell fuel like it was poured in my back seat, same with WOT, won't be long after i can smell it. Does that mean i'm running lean? if so how can i fix that, i heard its bad news causes detentation, which causes the paper weight effect.

well lean means your running less fuel so i would guess your running rich if you could smell the fuel. you could hear detonation it sounds almost like popcorn popping at the top end of the rpm range. i went too lean on a predator and it would detonate right after the 1-2 shift when the motor was under full load.

+1, if you are smelling fuel it's probably rich, not having cats will make it stink too--if it smells like raw fuel then something is very wrong.

Beyond that, you need a wide band O2 sensor to properly tune your engine--there is no other way to accurately determine AFR across the entire power band...

you can just "eyeball" it with a handheld tuner that lets you adjust the parameters of the air/fuel ratio. you wouldnt be able to tell if you were on point tho unless you have a wide band.. do it the right way and get a dyno tune

alright, i actually have no idea what a wide band is.. i will be getting a dyno as soon as i put the procharger on. You have a minute to explain what a wide band is?

a wide band O2 just reads your air fuel ratios..
