maby some one can tell me how it happined

ok heres what happined i got a 96 GT. Started to get a knock and it just got worste and worste so i pulled the block apart. Come to find out that the number 4 connecting rod ate a lip into the crank but didnt wreck the bearings and it didnt spin the bearing I have no idea how this happined and no one can tell me the reason behind it.

thanks for the input. im goin to a tech school and none of the instructes up here know what the problem might of been but its ok it just time to upgrade to all forged internals, heads and cams, and u/d pullys.
