How to change Rear Axle Lubrication
I was hoping to change my Rear Axle
Lubricant this weekend myself because Ford is asking for $149.95 . They recommend Motorcraft SAE 80W-90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant for 7.6 inches axel OR Motorcraft SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant for 8.8 inches Axel. How do I tell weather I have 7.6" or 8.8" .
I have 2001 Mustang GT 5-speed Manual and also can u guyz point me to How to Guide which explains step by step. Thank You all and happy new Year.

Just remove most of the bolts and loosen the top few enough so you can pry the bottom of the cover open to let it drain, then remove completely and clean everything.
Then rtv the cover and reinstall, let the rtv dry a while, then you can add the fluid in the fill hole on the side facing the front of the car, making sure to add the friction modifier if your not using synthetics that have it allready added.

^^+1, beats using the crappy $2.99 Autozone siphon pump. Speaking of Autozone, if you don't already have a Haynes manual for your car I highly recommend getting one. They aren't the be all-end all for everything about the car, but they have a lot of good information and do a decent job of guiding you through most repairs and maintenance procedures.
