What does notching piston intail. Can it be done without taking apart an engine. I want to upgrade the heads to stage 2.

no you cannot notch pistons in motor but if you are building your motor then it is a perfect time to do so. Upgrading to stage II heads does not mean you need notch your pistons but if you are going to run a high lift cam then it is recommended.

I am running CMS 2.5 blower cams with no issue.

Is it better to go with a high lift cam?

Do the heads have anything to do with notching the pistons or just the cams and are high lift cams better?

It's not expensive to notch the pistons themselves, but unless you're taking the heads out it's not really worth it. It's a lot of extra work just to do that alone.

The best cams for you are the ones designed for your specific setup. Stock? Modified heads? Different heads completly? See what i mean??? You have to be specific here.

I know it's a bit more expensive option, but the trickflow heads are going to give you more power, and because of the redesign of the chamber and valve placement, they're supposed to allow more lift so you could run a more aggressive cam profile. I know a guy who's putting an order together, he can get you a set for $1650 I believe.

Duration and LSA are what cause PTV issues, not lift.

That's a great price for those heads. Is it a group buy or something?

WannaBe, that's 100% correct... that and LSA.

You should avoid do it, especially if you plan to boost.

So are you saying to avoid high lift i am using boost. I do have a procharger and am looking to find out if its better if i use high lift option and notch the pistons. I have not rebuilt the engine yet and am trying to determine if i should wait or get the heads now. If i notch the pistons i have to wait. Is high lift that much better?
