I got a 95 cobra r hood for my 99 cobra. Do I need a heat shield for the new hood?

U will be fine w/out the heat shield. I removed mine from the stock hood 1st time I detailed underhood.

My wife's '05 GT has an aftermarket fiberglass hood, no heat shield. I'm having a Cobra R hood done for my '00 next week and am not running a heat shield. You should be fine. Plus, you won't have to worry about keeping that dumb thing clean. I had a heck of a time living on gravel keeping that thing looking decent at car shows. I'll be glad to have the new hood without the shield!!

Its also a safety feature. During an engine fire, its designed to melt and ooze over the engine in an attempt to extinguish the flames.
