Default 4v starter trouble

I just traded my 98 gt for a 96 gt with 4v swap. I'm having trouble with the starter staying engaged after the car starts but disengages a few seconds later. Sometimes the car won't start on the first crank and I turn the key off and the starter keeps turning and trying to start the car. What do I need to do?

Check for proper ground first, then id be looking into the ignition wirring. If someone trades a 4v swapped car for a npi gt of the same generation that kinda sounds like they are dumping off headaches.
