Question possible short on my alternator ?

Hi guys im going thru some stuff with my mustang as its not charging rite now i have replace the alternator 2 times already and i finally decided i was going to take my stock one to get rebuilt since i was thinking the problem was on the new reman alternator that i had bought from ebay...lol anyways when i took my stock alt. to the shop he opened it and he told me that the way it look i had a short in my car that was causing me to blow the alt. is this possible or is he just trying to rip me off ?

My car is not stock it fully built with mmr 900 short block, pi head with trickflow internals with port n polish, supercharged, mid length headers, edelbrock manifold and fuel rails, i just cant figure out were could the short be... thanks for any info guys

this may sound funny but check your battery sometimes a bad one can cause the alt to overwork trying to fully charge it back up. i used up 3 alt. in like 2 months on my cobra.

Have the battery tested for sure, but a simple test is to take a meter and start measuring resistance across connections. Start with the positive and negative on the alternator.
