Default Unusual rear tire wear

I've searched everywhere and can't find a post for uneven rear tire wear. I can find plenty on front tires, but my front tires are great. I've got a 2001 GT, manual tranny, bone stock except for CAI.

Both rear tires on my car are worn on the inner portion of the tire, almost down to the wear bars. Outside tread looks almost new. Tires were new when I bought the car last August, and I've maintain tire pressure. I didn't notice it, until I got under the car to drain and reseal the differential because it was leaking, but I've never seen wear like this before.

Is it possible for the rear axle to have toe out alignment on the hubs? I've never seen anything like it. Usually with under-inflation you get wear on both shoulders, and with over-inflation you get wear in the middle of the tread, but what the heck causes the inner shoulders to wear on rear tires?

Any ideas out there?

Thanks for the help.

Sounds like what Griggs Racing does with a special rear-axle mod to gain some neg camber on the rear wheels.

The only think I can think of is the possibilty of bad bearings out back? I find it hard to believe that BOTH bearings are worn in such a way, but uless you have been going Dukes of Hazard and jumping your ride over the river, I don't see how the axles would be bent or damaged in such a way.

Default No Duke style drivin'

No, it's both tires, and they aren't rubbing anywhere, and we only got one real river here in AZ, and it's at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, so no jumping. Car has less than 65K on it, so I can't believe the bearings are bad. I don't hear any other noise that would make me think they are shot.

Is it possible the diff is locking, or would I hear other noise and see different wear?

Thanks for the posts.

That's strange bro.
Is your car out of alignment possibly?
Is your rear tires maybe rubbing on something?

No to the IRS(which would explain the wear perfectly), and they are stock Bullitt wheels. BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDWS 245/45ZR17. I can't see or hear them rubbing on anything, and like I said fronts look almost brand new.

I'll have to take it to a shop and see if the axle is bent, but I'd think I'd see/hear other indications as well.

Thanks for the posts. I'll let you guys know what they say.
