Question about overheating
Ok so my 1996 mustang has been practically acting like its vapor locking in the mid day heat. I was wondering, if the car is over heating, does the computer have something that kills the fuel pump so you dont damage the motor? I havent had problems with it the 2 years ive had it up till now... and this problem only happens when the day is at its hottest... But when it does happen i will be driving fine, and then all of a sudden i get no rpm gain and no play in the throttle.. the car idles rough, and WILL not stay running... acts like its starving for fuel now if it were carbeurated i could see vaport lock.. but i just replaced the fuel pump in december... so im at a loss and the check engine light doesnt come on.... so my diagnostics computer wont pull up codes...
ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREAT

I would check operation of the fuel pressure regulator--not because symptoms such as you describe are common to that component's failure, rather because intermittent FPR failure could cause the symptoms you describe...
