Default power window - driver's

about a month ago in my 2000 GT Vert my driver's side p/w only went down about 3 inches for a couple of trips and then returned to normal. today it came back. i had the trim panel off and there's no obstructions. any ideas? thanks

Here is the wiring diagram for the power windows.

The driver's side window, in auto-down mode, uses a current sensing circuit in the GEM to determine when the window is down--when then motor current rises rapidly it assume the window is down all the way.

If the window tracks and/or regulator mechanism are dry (as in un/under lubricated), it is conceivable that the GEM might see a sticking window as "down all the way" and kill the power. This could be intermittent, and get progressively worse.

Also the motor is protected against overheating, however tripping that would require a pretty good sized overload.
