Stock gears vs 3.73 vs 4.10 What's the best?
I only drive the car like once a week, and only when it's nice out. It's a 2003 Mustang GT 5 speed. I was looking change the gears. I'm not sure if there would be a huge difference or not... What do you think the 1/4 time would be? And do you think 4.10 gears are too high?
I was looking around on the forum and couldn't find anything =( Your advice is appreciated!!!

well it depends what you wanna do with the car...i had 410s and although they are nice i went back to the 373s i had before them because 1, traction sucked 2, 4th gear tops out at 112mph so if you plan on doing anything less than a 12.7 at 110mph+ youll need a bigger tire (27 or 28in) or smaller gear...half the people on here who say go with 410s still have stock gears so keep that in mind as well

I like a nice cruising setup, so I'll say 2.73 ftw. Better fuel economy as well.
Just kidding, personally I'm very happy with my 4.10's (m/t car), but as noted above if you are planning on doing any shredding at the track (and especially if you plan on s/c later on) you run the possibility of running out of gear so maybe think about 3.73's. If it's just going to be a street driven car then 4.10's are great I think. Fuel economy doesn't suffer much with them, I typically get 20 or so mpg if it's all highway and I usually hover at around 80mph. I got 26mpg one time on a long trip doing about 70mph on that particular tank.

I have 3.73s on the 5.0 and that's a nice solid gear, even supercharged, I've heard multiple issues about people with 4.10s (mainly those with manual trannies) having complaints about traction and reducing to 3.73 or 3.55. So to me, 3.55 or 3.73 for a manual, 3.73 or 4.10 for an auto.

I find that very had to believe. Its a matter of personal preference and what you plan on doing to your and with your car. I DD mine and will autocross and maybe track it so 3.73s is what I'm going to go with.
