Default removing catalytic converters

Hello Mighty Mustang people
I have a 98 GT and would like a little more HP. Has any one removed the
cadlilic converters and if so how did it turn out for them?

you wont gain much HP but it will be considerably louder. It will make your car stink though.

Are you talking about hollowing your cats out or replacing your mid-pipe with one that has no cats?

you might pick up a few rwhp's, but nothing major. It will mainly just make the car louder.... and like I said... make it stink lol.

Super! but im not the only person that has claimed that. Goes the same with a wide open exhaust done it on both of my vehicles and noticed how sluggish it was vs when I put a muffler back on. Some vehicles are sensitive to the whole backpressure thing and the stang just has to be one of those vehicles.

Interesting. I always heard back pressure wasnt that big of a deal on the stangs, but I'm no expert. Gotta love the catless sound though!

Yeah, I helped my buddy install a Pypes O/R X on his 02. The RPMs would rocket up during revs. The car felt a lot more responsive. And yes by stink his car smelled like pure burnt race fuel when I tailed him during the summer cruising days (which by the way are right around the corner! Get warmer already!!) haha.
