Default Oil decision

alright so I have a 2000 GT and all but I really don't know what oil would be best to pick. I don't wanna make picking oil any harder than it should be because, well it's just oil. I don't wanna put High Mileage in my car quite yet because you have to continue using it after you use it once, It has 87,006 on it. I would think Castrol GTX would be fine but I was told Valoline is what Ford puts in their engine's as they make them. Idk what do you guys run in your stangs?

No, you dont have to keep using high mileage oil when you use it. Same goes with synthetic, I switch between them all the time. Also Motorcraft is what Ford uses not Valvoline. As far as what oil to put in your car, how long to you plan on going between changes, what kind of driving do you do(short trips or long highway trips, mixed)?

Well I live like 10 mins from town and if I ever really drive that's where it's to or to school which is like 10-15 mins. But I sometimes go down to my mom's which is like 1H 30Mins away. and I'm also going to drive it to Ocean City here in August.

I would recommend you in doing a search on the forum. The oil/oil filter topic has been discussed more than once.

I change my oil and filter every 3,000 miles or 6 months, which ever comes first. The mustang gets 6 quarts of mobile one synthetic and a motorcraft oil filter.

if you dont really care, just run Motorcraft oil, i run in it in my wifes Milan, and my old F150 and never have any issues with it.

i run RP in my Mustangs, but thats just for piece of mind, im sure it doesnt make a difference...

I use valvoline and mobil1 whichever one is on sale at autozone, both fully synthetic. Changing oil every 3000-3500 miles

Regular castrol gtx dino oil is what I use, 5w30 and I run 7qts in my cobra, but your 2v I'd use 6.5qts. It calls for 6, but at high rpm it can suck the pan down a little low which is why I tend to run it at the MAX line
