2003 Mach1
I just bought a Mach1 and I am curious as to what I can do to increase its performance. I have been told that they under tune the engines. How can I tune it to its peak performance? Any other tips would be helpful.

Also I am curious to know the engine specs, like what kind of piston heads and piston rods. Is there anywhere that I could look up the engine specs and what the brand of the components are? The engine is a 4.6L DOHC 32 valve v8.

Because the 03 cobra looks like any other cobra which looks like any other gt which looks like any other regular mustang. There is hardly any difference visually in those body styles. I'm not talking about up close, i'm talking from 30+ feet they all look the same to your average person. Whereas when you see a mach1 is has many more visual differences that your other mustangs. When you see one on the road there is no mistaking what it is.
Also, I am a pretty big fan of a mach1. That and I dont care for super/turbo chargers. Makes the car have a high pitch whine to it. The mach 1 has a more throaty exhaust sound which I really like.

Not hardly will I have to put up with the noise. Just wanted to know what I can do to tune it to get more performance out of it. Doing simple things like changing the cpu, the exhaust, and the distributor will increase performance. Just curious to see what ideas are out there for performance tips.

hey man, congrats on your mach 1 purchase...that car kicks some serious ***. anyway, even though you said you liked the throaty sound it has, i'd definitely put in a whole new exhaust system, headers to tips. you'd be surprised how much louder and bolder than can make the sound. a chip is always a way to squeeze out a few more HP (but it can kill gas mileage, but who cares!) but at the same time, don't do too much to it. those are collector cars, i wouldn't go too crazy with the mods. and if you do anyway, keep all the stock parts with ya. just my opinion.
