I bought a 96 GT Auto, the car was sitting for about a year and a half, it worked
when the transmission died. How long can an engine sit before it seizes?

If the car will be sitting for an extended amount of time, Buy some Stabil and a gallon of gas in a gas can. Pour enough to treat the amount of gas in your car into the gas can and shake it up real well. Now pour the gas into your tank. It won't mix well enough if you don't do it this way. Now start and run your car so the whole fuel system is treated. Disconnect the battery and you are done. the car should start and run when you fire it back up after repairs are made.

It really all depends on how and where it is stored. The engine won't just freeze up if everything is 100% sealed off.
