The reason I ask is because I have noticed that owner sellers have upgraded their vehicles.
Honestly if you aren't the most mechanically knowledgeable person I would recommend taking someone who is.. I can list a thousand things to look at and that doesn't mean you will know exactly what to look for. It's very hard to describe certain things.. And also things change with different years... As far as private sellers vs dealers well that's just preference. You will still look at the same thing. A dealer can rip you off just as easy as a private seller.

Look for a private sale, you can talk to the person who drives it and took care of it. I just bought my 2003 gt, paid less than 8K for it and it is in great shape. Mileage is under 100,000. However I am in Canada and convertable season has ended.
I had talked to about 10 different people about there cars they had for sale, pics looked great but when I showed up to look it was a real let down. Quite a few cars I would't even look at because the owners talked about the car like they were in the fast and furious and I did not want a beat car. Good luck on your search.

Cliff showed us chart awhile back about the options from Deluxe to Premium that could be had.

My 2001 GT Convertible comes up Deluxe by the VIN number but it has all the Premium options (other then) Mach 1000

The options my car has would be Premium on 03/04 GT's
