Default What's the best way to go about this?

Okay guys, have a goal of starting the car for the first time this weekend, however I have long tubes, and an automatic. I hear you cant drop the trans without loosening a header, however, can I install the motor with the longtubes on if I angle it enough to where the collectors are below the trans bell housing when setting it in? Can I do motor, trans and headers all as one unit? I have a 4 post lift and a cherry picker. Thought about picking the back of the car up, and trying to install it all as one... Thoughts? trying to do it without dropping the K member....

Good luck man, that's why I have shorties. You might be able to get it all out as one whole piece with a little love. I get mine tuned this Monday so I'm anxious to compare power numbers with our similar setups. Your cams are a tad taller than mine, but mine are open longer. BTW have fun holding the gas pedal when you come to a stop before you can get it tuned. Mine was a PITA to drive at first, it was stalling everywhere.

When I put my motor in last winter with LT and trans attached I managed to get the damn motor wedged in a weird position I eventually got it in but it was a PITA. Had I just dropped the k-member it would have been a million times easier

if you have a 4 post lift, just drop the kmember. 12 bolts will drop the k member, engine and trans out the bottom. this is the easiest by far

motor and trans went in with the headers from the top. took about 15 minutes. simple, and no problems. It installed pretty easy from the top.
