Default Clutch problems

For awhile now my clutch cable has been very stiff and has been hard going into gear. A centerforce dual friction was installed about 9 months ago, its been doing this for about 3 months now. I figured it was the clutch cable so i bought an oem clutch cable and installed it. Made no difference at all. My question is that is there supposed to be quite a bit of play in the clutch fork? It moves up and down a lot and side to side it just doesnt seem right.

How much free play is there at the pedal? It should be 1" to 1-3/8"...
