what to do next....
so i have been putting money aside this winter and was looking at maybe changing the engine in my 4.6 with a motor from mmr. the engine complete is going to run around $6000. ive looked at a few other posts with general bolt ons and extras and it seems like i have most done already... from gears to suspension to a s/c. i was wondering if i was to keep the motor i have now what else would i be able to do? i have a sct tuner so i guess anything i change i could get a new map for the computer? i would love to put another pulley to up the boost but i was told that is really dangerous to my engine. any input or ideas? i really like the idea of putting a bigger bored out stronger engine in, but my engine now only has 38000. its barely broken... lol

If you have most of those mods already done, and with 6k to spend you could get the heads rebuilt for performance, new cam maybe?
How many lbs of boost are you pushing now? how many are you hoping for?

yes i have done upper and lower control arms, sub frame connectors springs. i would like to get some stronger tires to really make sure i get the power to the ground. i currently have 8lbs of boost. i would love to put a new pulley on to bump it to 12lbs but i was told that will be dangerous. true? false? what sort of heads and cams would i be looking for? trick flow? aluminum? this car has absolutely no problems. i bought this car new and have treated it like a baby. so (knock on wood) i am happy to say i have no issues with it. if i did lean towards upper engine changes would it be smart to get a new computer tune?

I'm pushing 12lbs. right now but I also do a lot of highway driving from home to school. My motor is holding up fine but I am having the heads rebuild this summer with new head studs.
If you do go with new or rebuild heads it would be good to get the computered tuned.
As for the type you want just shop around and read reviews.

honestly I'd take some of that money and buy a daily beater and save miles on the Stang. Make it a weekend car. Sounds like your stang is about as modded as it can get without a real over haul. Buy a motorcycle.

Talk to a machine shop about getting a more or less stock PI motor with a fully forged bottom end, H beam rods, the works. If that is this 6,000 price mark shop around some more. Talk to local machine shops, and then branch out. I was quoted 4,000 give or take a few hundred by WestCoastEngines.com. Bare in mind that is you 265 hp stock modular motor just with a bottom end that can handle the boost and horsepower increase that comes with it.
